When was the last time you had a seed? No, i'm not talking about the seed from an apple you just ate, nor am I talking about those delicious pumpkin seeds. I'm also not talking about nuts, you'd be surprised how many people still believe a seed is a nut. I'm talking about 3 health boosting seeds that you need to start incorporating into your diet. Have you ever heard the term " Great things come in small packages " ? Well that's the best way I can explain the significance of seeds. They may be tiny, but they pack more in that tiny frame than you can ever imagine! 1. Chia Seeds 60 calories, 3 grams protein, 3 grams fat, and 5 grams carbs per tablespoon. If you're reading this thinking "Is this the same chia seed that I used to make Chia Pets?" the answer is yes! It is in fact, the same seed that sprouts the "hair" on those loveable creepy little Chia pets. But did you know that It's the fiber heavyweight of seeds? Consuming only a tablespoon delivers 5 grams of fiber! When the fiber in chia dances with those digestive liquids of your gut, it's thought that it swells and begins to form a gel. This gel aids in improving blood-sugar control and promotes satiety to help keep your junk-food temptations controlled! 2. Hemp Seeds 57 calories, 3 grams protein, 4 grams fat, and 1 gram carbs per tablespoon. Hemp seeds are highly regarded as the most nutritious seed in the world! Hemp provides a broad source of health benefits including increased energy, weight loss, rapid recovery of disease, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, reduced inflammation and natural blood sugar control. You can see why this seed is so highly regarded in the health community. In general, Hemp seeds are easier to digest than other high protein foods such as eggs, beef, cheese, and whole milk to name a few. They are an excellent source of essential fatty acids such as Omega 3, 6, and GLA(Gamma Linolenic Acid). If you are unable to eat nuts, gluten, lactose or sugar, than Hemp is an excellent alternative as there are no known allergies to Hemp products. 3. Sunflower Seeds 51 calories, 2 grams protein, 4.5 grams fat, and 2 grams carbs per tablespoon. Sunflower seeds are not just for ball players! No, this delicious nutritional snack is filled with cancer preventing properties, and cardiovascular benefits. This seed is an excellent source of Vitamin E, unsaturated fats, and minerals such as magnesium, copper, and manganese. The claim to fame of this seed however is the levels of Vitamin E. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and may improve exercise recovery by reducing oxidative stress in the body. As it has a great source of Selenium, evidence has shown that sunflower seeds induce DNA synthesis in damaged cells of the body; making it a cancer preventing powerhouse!
Have you ever wondered what causes you to crave certain foods, especially when trying to shed weight; only to find yourself feeding into them by munching down on some unhealthy foods? Take a look at this little chart we put together for you, to see what causes them and what healthy foods you can eat instead!
Titan Army, I picked this up at Popeye's Supplements the other week. It was one of those "free" options when you purchase over $300, so I thought "What the heck, let's try it!". It turns out it was a great decision, because now I get to bring you this review! Let's get into it! Taste: 5/5 The best way I can describe the taste, is a not as sour blueberry flavoured Warhead candy. It tastes almost as if it's a combination of blueberry and lemonade. It tastes slightly different than other Blue Razz flavoured products, in that it's more on the sour side than it is on the bland. This is what sets it a part from the other products as far as taste goes, and while not overpowering, or underwhelming, it is very distinct, memorable, and enjoyable. Performance: 4/5 I have noticed that i'm performing my reps with more velocity, While the number of reps has only increased by roughly 2 reps, the speed at which i'm able to perform them has drastically increased. For instance, during my flat bench I would complete my sets until failure, but they were done very methodically, whereas now, I'm able to force them up at a much quicker speed. While performer hammer curls, I've noticed that I'm able to control the negative at a much slower speed, thus really tearing into those muscle fibers. Weight Gain: 4/5 I've noticed zero weight gain on this product. It has fluctuated roughly 2-3 lbs, however I'm currently on a cut, so that number is in the downwards rather than an upwards direction. The fact that it has caused zero weight gain, stays true to what they say about the product, in that it gives you the effects of creatine, without the bloat. Stomach Sensitivity: 5/5 I have a sensitive stomach to begin with, and other creatines in the past have given my stomach issues with digestion, however I haven't noticed any of that with Muscle Tech's CreaCore Creatine. Overall: 4.5/5 For a product that I was given to for free, and what seemed like it was a non seller, essentially a throw away from the supplement store, I was real impressed. The scoop was even on the top! and if you're a supplement taker, you understand the importance of the scoop being on the top. Do I recommend paying the full price for this product? absolutely. Will I in the future? absolutely, but for now I've got a 3 month free supply to last me. Until next time, Salute, Titans.
Titan Army, I cannot tell you how long I've been searching for a grape flavoured pre-workout; but alas! I have found it! So, how does it stack up? Let's get to it shall we? Taste: 5/5 I'm giving Purple K a big ole perfect score on this one, my friends. First let me say, that I'm a huge fan of grape flavoured things so consider me a bit biased here. If you enjoy the flavour grape in general, even more so if you enjoy grape Kool-Aid you will love the flavour of this product because that's exactly what this tastes like! Energy: --- If you're looking for a pick me up, or an energy boost similar to Cellucor C4, this isn't the product for you, or is it? Yes, this product contains no caffeine (A little fact I learned after purchase). A pre-workout however, is so much more than just a caffeine boost and if you're a pro at taking pre-workouts, you know this. If you rely on a pre-workout for its caffeine boost, I do have a suggestion for you; low calorie energy drinks(Monster, Rockstar, Red Bull) of course I'm not suggesting that these are healthy options, however they will do the trick. Focus/Endurance: 4/5 I was truly impressed by the focus level I gained after taking Purple K. This is something that i've struggled with after taking other pre-workouts, I always feel as if I'm not truly locked in. After 20 minutes of taking 2 scoops of Purple K, I was locked in about as much as I think I possibly can be. I found myself focused on the rep count, the correct form being used, counting down the rest time between sets, and when that next set came I was ready to give it my everything. As far as endurance goes, I rate it the same as focus. I found myself throwing in more burnout sets than usual on my chest workout; I was able to power through when the burn told me to quit. Going into taking this product, I was unsure that I would get a good result without the caffeine(i'm a caffeine junky, and rely on it heavily for workouts), however after taking it I was pleasantly surprised. Pump: 3.5/5 I wasn't too impressed with the "pump" that I got from this product. Yes, my muscle endurance was increased and I went crazy on the burnout sets, however I didn't really notice any increased muscle pump in my chest which was a little unfortunate. Now, I'm not out to impress anyone with my chest today, so I'm not too bummed, but if I were going to the beach and wanted a nice pump before shedding the shirt, I'd be a little let down. Beta-Alanine Itch: 4/5 You may have just read that and thought to yourself "Is this guy serious?" and the answer is.. not usually, but this time I am! Everyone talks about that Beta-Alanine itch with pre workouts, most take that as a sign that the pre workout has kicked in and the workout can begin. I usually only get that itch from the first time I use a new pre workout, and then it fades as my body becomes adjusted to the product. That being said, I give this a 4/5 because I felt like I had bugs crawling all over my body. Maybe that's a bad example, but you get what I'm saying; you definitely feel that itch and you definitely know when to begin the workout, there's no mistaking it. Overall: 4/5 I was really impressed by this product. I was hesitant at first after reading the reviews for it, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't buy this solely because the excitement of finding a grape flavoured pre workout overcame me, but i'm glad it did because it's a great pre workout. It exceeded all expectations, and even without the caffeine it still gave me the complete package of pre workout goodness. In conclusion, do I recommend that you buy this? Absolutely. Even if you rely on caffeinated pre workouts, give this a try, I did and I don't regret it for a second. Salute, Titans. |
